How we approach it

Outside, prep is everything. If the surface isn’t clean, sound and primed, the best paint in the world will peel.

Questions people ask

Exterior painting, answered.

★★★★★
“5 stars isn’t enough.”
Paul Ambler · Homeowner · Google
When is the best time to paint a house exterior in Toronto?

Generally from late spring to early fall, when temperatures stay above the paint’s minimum and nights aren’t too cold. Paul books exterior jobs around the forecast.

Can you paint brick?

Yes. Brick needs the right cleaning and a breathable primer and paint system. Paul will tell you honestly whether your brick is a good candidate.

What does the 3-year guarantee cover?

Exterior work comes with a 3-year written guarantee. Paul goes over exactly what it covers when he quotes your job.

Do I need a permit to paint my house exterior?

Painting a house normally does not need a building permit in Toronto. Some heritage districts and condo boards have their own rules, so check if that applies to you.
